Look, I’ll be honest with you.
I am a Dodger fan so Fantasy Football isn’t holding my full attention at this point. So I’m gonna keep this short and sweet…
We are in week 1 of the bye week apocalypse. 6 teams on bye this week. Packers, Titans, Giants, Rams, Cardinals, and Jaguars.
And we get another 6 next week.
The pickings are slim but I’m still here to help.
So here you go! This week’s S.S.S.P.O.T.W.
Sit : Trevor Siemien – DEN – It’s been a struggle for Siemien since his hot start. Since week 2 he has only thrown 2 TDs. Vance Joesph has come out and given him the dreaded “Vote of Confidence”… which means he is a few bad series away from getting benched for Paxton Lynch. Put that together with a matchup in Arrowhead against the Chiefs and no Emmanuel Sanders and you got yourself an easy decision. Sit him.
Start : Cam Newton – CAR – After struggling the first 3 weeks of the season, Cam showed signs of life for his fantasy owners (me included) in weeks 4 through 6… only to have a terrible game against a sneaky good Bears defense last week. Nothing went right. But lucky for Cam and the Panthers, they get a matchup with NFC South rivals and new “get right” team, Buccaneers. I’m expecting a huge bounce back game for Cam.
Sneaky : Phillip Rivers – LAC – Rivers has had his ups and downs this season. And if you own him, chances are you have to play him anyways with 6 teams on bye. But if not, take into consideration that fact that Rivers and the Chargers are traveling to New England to face a Patriots defense that can be thrown on. You know, unless some unexpected fog rolls in. Fog Gate.
Sit : CJ Anderson – DEN – Aside from week 2, Anderson has been hard to play. His owners seem to be in a constant “This is his bounce back week” state of mind, only, it never comes. The play the Chiefs this week, Jamaal Charles is starting to get more run, and nobody fears their passing game. If I’m a CJ owner, I’m trying to sell him to a RB needy team for something you can use.
Start : Chris Thompson – WAS – Thompson had a stinker game in week 4… but aside from that, he has been PPR money. I don’t think he reaches this mark, but he is currently on pace to become just the 4th player in NFL history to carry the ball 100 times and have 1,000 receiving yards. He gets a week 8 matchup with a Cowboys defense that has been known to give it up to pass catching backs.
Sneaky : Joe Mixon – CIN – I don’t know what the problem is in Cincinnati. It’s like they’re allergic to good running backs. They have ine in Mixon and refuse to turn him loose. He reels off a few good runs, then they sit him down. But he voiced his opinion after Sunday’s game about running the ball more and against the Colts this week, I think the squeaky wheel FINALLY gets the grease from the fantasy football gods.
Sit : Demaryius Thomas – DEN – Trevor Siemien is struggling. The running game can’t get going. No Emmanuel Sanders to take the attention off the other side. Paxton Lynch talk. Marcus Peters and the Chiefs. Who wants anything to do with this situation?
Start : Alshon Jeffrey – PHI – Dak Prescott just got done throwing all over the 49ers. I have a feeling Carson Wentz and the Eagles will do the same when they come to Philly in week 8 and Alshon will be the one to benefit this week against that poor defense.
Sneaky : Pierre Garcon – SF – As I stated above, the Eagles will be putting up a ton of points in Philadelphia this week against that 49er Defense and as a result, that 49er offense will be forced to try and keep up with them. Garcon will be in line for some of those beautiful Garbage Time Points we all love so much in fantasy football.
Sit : Zach Miller – CHI – Not much to choose from this week with 6 teams of bye. I know I had him here last week and I’m keeping him here. Mitch Trubisky attempted 7 passes last week. 7. Stay away from the Bears.
Start : Hunter Henry – LAC – Henry has given owners in PPR leagues double digit points the past 3 week and I expect this trend to continue against that beatable Patriots D
Sneaky : Jason Witten – DAL – The old man still has it. He’s owned in 76% of Yahoo Fantasy Football leagues so there’s a chance he could be out there for you. He went for 4-51-1 last week and get a Redskins team that has given up the 4th most points to TEs.
